Reinforced
Concrete Slab

Insulated, reinforced pour Lakeside steel-frame build Recently completed

The brief

A reinforced concrete slab inside a new steel-frame lakeside building. We took the job from a freshly cleared site through setting out, strip footings, blockwork up to DPC, insulated raft preparation and a power-floated pour ready for the structure to take its finishes.

Tight access between the steel columns and a sloping site meant careful muck-away, accurate levels and a clean shutter line right against the existing fence and lake-side retaining wall.

Foundation footprint marked out in spray paint with mini-excavators on standby
01Setting out the footprint
Hand-trimmed strip foundation trench dug along the perimeter of the slab
02Strip footings excavated
Blockwork foundation walls built up to DPC level inside the steel-frame building
03Blockwork up to DPC
Insulation boards, DPM and rebar mesh laid inside formwork ready for the concrete pour
04Insulation, DPM & rebar
Freshly poured concrete slab being floated to level inside the steel frame
05Concrete poured & floated
Power-floated concrete slab finished smooth and ready for the building above
